At its regular meeting on Thursday, October 13, 2022, the South Park School District Board of Directors approved the hiring of Officer Lane Zabelsky as the district’s newest school police officer. Officer Zabelsky, who recently retired, brings decades of law enforcement experience to the district. He will primarily serve at South Park Middle School.

Officer Zabelsky retired in May after nearly 20 years with the Allegheny County Police Department. With the department, he served as a patrol officer, a detective in general investigations, a detective in the homicide unit, a patrol officer, and a task force officer. Prior to joining the Allegheny County Police, Zabelsky was a deputy coroner in Allegheny County and a military policeman.

Officer Zabelsky joins Director of School Police Todd Naylor and Officer Joe Pantuso as part of the South Park School District’s Police Department.
