The South Park School District was notified today that two students at South Park High School and one student at South Park Elementary Center tested positive for COVID-19. One high school student, who is a member of the South Park golf and hockey teams, was last in school on Monday, November 9. The other high school student, who participated in boys’ basketball practices this week, was last in school on Thursday, November 12. The elementary center student who tested positive was last in school on Thursday, November 12.

The South Park School District has enacted the procedures for responding to a confirmed case from our Health and Safety Plan and followed the guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. We are working closely with the Allegheny County Health Department and will continue to adhere to all guidance and recommendations provided to us by public health officials.
Contact tracing is currently taking place. The Allegheny County Health Department will make all quarantine recommendations. Close contacts will be notified by the district and/or the Allegheny County Health Department and begin quarantine.
Buildings are thoroughly cleaned nightly. However, affected areas of the high school and elementary center will once again be cleaned and disinfected as per Pennsylvania Department of Health and CDC guidelines.
The individuals will not return to school until the isolation period has concluded.

We will continue to monitor the situation and notify families and staff of any additional actions that may need to be taken following our continued consultation with the Allegheny County Health Department.
