Week of December 17-21, 2018

Monday 12.17.18-Assessment on Ben Franklin unit. Students have an electronic study guide in their Google Classroom to prepare for this test.

Tuesday 12.18.18-We will explore holiday customs of various countries around the world. Students will see the practices both religious and political of the holidays in other nations. They will research a given country and present their findings in a Google Slide presentation  to their peers. We will also locate these countries on a map.

Wednesday 12.19.18-We will explore holiday customs of various countries around the world. Students will see the practices both religious and political of the holidays in other nations. They will research a given country and present their findings in a Google Slide presentation  to their peers. We will also locate these countries on a map.

Thursday 12.20.18-Today the students will present their holiday traditions for their nations in class.

Friday 12.21.18-Holly Jolly Dodgeball Game in the morning. Holiday Movies in the PM.

Thursday 1.3.19-Today we will embark on the anticipatory set of our first novel, Fever 1793. Students will build their background on an overview of the Yellow Fever disease and the outbreak in our own beloved city of Philadelphia. We will discuss the symptoms and treatments of this historic disease. 

HWK: none


Friday 1.4.19-Students will receive their novel study guides in their Google Classroom today. As we read the novel, they will answer the guided reading questions pertaining to each chapter. This study guide will help the students to best prepare for the upcoming quizzes. There will be a novel quiz after every 5 chapters. 
Today we will read chapters 1 & 2 together in class via audio book. 

HWK: Complete study guide packet questions.

Monday 1.7.19-We will continue with our adventures in Fever 1793 by reading chapters 3-4 of the novel. Students will complete their guided reading study guide questions for these chapters. 

HWK: Fever chapter 1-5 quiz is Wednesday, 1/9
Current Event Reports are due Thursday, 1/10, Bell ringer notebook assessments are Friday, 1/11, and the 1st Semester Bell ringer test is Monday, 1/14. 


Tuesday 1.8.19-We will continue with our adventures in Fever 1793 by reading chapter 5 of the novel. Students will complete their guided reading study guide questions for these chapters. We will have our first quiz on the novel tomorrow. Students ARE permitted to use their novels during the test, but not their study guide packets. 

HWK:  Fever Chapter 1-5 quiz is tomorrow. 
Current Event Reports are due Thursday, 1/10, Bell ringer notebook assessments are Friday, 1/11, and the 1st Semester Bell ringer test is Monday, 1/14. 



Wednesday 1.9.19-We will take our first Fever novel quiz on chapters 1-5 today.

Thursday 1.10.19-Current Event Reports for the 2nd nine weeks are due today. Students must submit their reports in the Google Classroom to receive credit. Students will present their reports in class today to their peers. 

HWK:   Bell ringer notebook assessments are Friday, 1/11, and the 1st Semester Bell ringer test is Monday, 1/14. 


Friday 1.11.19-Bell Ringer notebook checks for the 2nd nine weeks will occur today. Student notebooks are assessed for completeness, accuracy and neatness on a rubric scale. While notebook assessing is occurring, students will be working on a clozed Fever activity in class. 

HWK:  1st Semester Bell ringer test is Monday, 1/14.
