Hola, me llamo...
Señorita Appel

¡Buenos días! I am Andrea Appel and I am a Spanish teacher here at South Park High School! This will be my fifth year being a Spanish teacher and I continuously grow more and more passionate about it! My goal is to create a classroom that fosters a love for learning Spanish in a warm and inviting environment. I hope to instill a passion for speaking, reading, writing, and listening in the target language to each and every student that enters into my classroom!
I completed my undergraduate studies at Penn State University with a dual major in World Languages Education and Spanish. During my time at Penn State, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Seville, Spain for a semester. I lived with a host family who spoke nothing but Spanish! It was truly an unbelievable experience and I would do it all over again if given the opportunity! While I lived in Spain, I was able to travel across the country and throughout Europe. The rich culture and history was nothing short of astounding. I love to incorporate the history and culture into my teaching to provide students with real-world applications of the language and how they can incorporate Spanish into their daily lives.
After completing my undergraduate studies, I completed a Master's Degree Program through Wilkes University in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I feel it is important to know as much about our first language as possible in order to effectively teach a second language.
I am looking forward to the 2016-2017 school year! ¡Vamos a divertirnos!
