South Park School District Families:

Our thoughts are with those impacted by the horrific shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. This senseless tragedy undoubtedly and understandably affects all of us.

The safety of South Park students, faculty, and staff is and always will be our highest priority. The district’s crisis management plan has been evaluated, revised, and enhanced by South Park School District Police Officer Todd Naylor in conjunction with the South Park Township Police Department, the Library Volunteer Fire Company, the Broughton Volunteer Fire Department, and Tri Community South EMS. Officer Naylor, who brings decades of experience to the district, and officers from the South Park Township Police Department have a daily presence in our school buildings. Crisis prevention and crisis response training will continue to be a crucial part of the district’s safety plan.

Your cooperation helps us to maintain a safe school environment. When you hear of a threat or rumor, contact district administrators immediately. Please encourage your child to do the same. Every report will be taken seriously and investigated.

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC has provided resources for parents following the tragedy in Florida. You can find those resources by clicking here.

The South Park School District will continue to be proactive when it comes to safety plans, measures, and training. We are committed to our mission of providing a safe educational atmosphere where all students can learn, develop their abilities, and succeed.

Sincerely,
Wayne Gdovic
Superintendent of Schools
